Prior to Liverpool’s match against Burnley, Joe Gomez is “among five players to miss training.”

Five players are said to have skipped training in advance of Saturday’s home match against Burnley, including Joe Gomez, a defender for Liverpool.

The Reds’ 15-game Premier League winning streak came to an end on Sunday against Arsenal, so they will be eager to go back to winning ways this weekend.

Before this weekend’s activity, Jurgen Klopp’s team was still atop the Premier League standings despite their 3-1 loss to the Gunners.

Nonetheless, they lead Manchester City and Arsenal by only two points, with the former having the advantage of a game in hand.

There was an unexpected absence from Liverpool’s most recent training session as the team got ready to take on Burnley, a team that is threatened with relegation.

The versatile defender was not seen during Thursday’s practice at the AXA Training Centre, according to the Liverpool Echo.

With 32 appearances so far this season, Gomez has established himself as a mainstay in the Liverpool lineup, starting the past 11 games for the team.

Before Thiago Alcantara took his place in the 85th minute during the team’s most recent loss to Arsenal, the 26-year-old played the most of the game.

Thiago was playing in a competition for the first time since April of last year, but the Spaniard will now likely miss further time due to injury.

The 32-year-old suffered a muscular injury during his short substitute debut at the Emirates Stadium. He is out of contract in June.

Mohamed Salah, an international player for Egypt, was not present during training along with Gomez and Thiago. Salah is still recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered at the Africa Cup of Nations last month.

Dominik Szoboszlai was also unable to participate in training as he was unable to go to North London on Sunday due to a hamstring injury.

Conor Bradley, a 20-year-old fullback, is still on compassionate leave as a result of his father’s recent passing.

On Thursday, Japan international Wataru Endo was present after his return from the Asian Cup. Kostas Tsimikas, who is recuperating from a fractured collarbone, was able to finish a full session with his teammates.
