Legendary Manchester United player Roy Keane was forced to retract his criticism of Rasmus Hojlund following the striker’s first goal in the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.
At Old Trafford, Hojlund, who scored his first Premier League goal of the year on Boxing Day, got things started with a thunderous strike that sailed past a defenceless Guglielmo Vicario.
The Dane’s goal was eventually cancelled out by Richarlison, but before halftime, Marcus Rashford, who Hojlund had set up, gave Man United the lead again.
Soon after the break, Rodrigo Bentancur tied the score for Tottenham, and Ange Postecoglou’s team emerged from Old Trafford with a share of the victory following a thrilling contest.
Before the game, Keane blasted Hojlund, a £72 million acquisition who has struggled to score goals in the Premier League this year.
“You can’t keep waiting for players,” the legendary Manchester United player stated on Sky Sports.
Naturally, it may require some time to adjust. However, you have to truly want to put the ball in the net when these players are given the opportunity.
“He has squandered numerous easy opportunities.” You can’t wait around for a team like Manchester United.
“His goal totals are so low, it’s unbelievable.” It’s evident that it’s not only for him.However, I simply don’t see the drive to put the ball in the net.
However, after seeing Hojlund’s outstanding first-half performance, which saw Manchester United lead Tottenham 2-1 at the interval, Keane had a change of heart.
“Beautiful, brilliant strike [for the first goal],” Keane continued. Spurs’ poor defence allows them to recover but then settle back.
Yet it’s a beautiful strike with excellent power and accuracy. Fantastic beginning for United.
