Andrey Santos goes on loan to Strasbourg from Chelsea.

Andrey Santos, a midfielder for Chelsea, has signed a season-long loan to Strasbourg.

After completing his transfer from Vasco da Gama to Chelsea in January of last year, Santos returned to the Brazilian team in March for a six-month loan.

Prior to the 2023–24 season, Santos joined Mauricio Pochettino’s team; however, he was later loaned to Nottingham Forest, a former Premier League team.

Although Santos was supposed to play for the East Midlands club for the whole season, Chelsea used their recall right earlier this month.

With just one start in the EFL Cup and seven minutes of Premier League action, the 19-year-old failed to make an impression at the City Ground.

The Blues have chosen to loan Santos to their sister club, Strasbourg, because they are eager for him to get regular playing time.

Similar to Chelsea, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s BlueCo organization own the Ligue 1 team.

Santos’ loan agreement does not contain a purchase option; he will play out the remainder of the season in France before returning to Chelsea in the summer.

“Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has joined French club Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season,” the club confirmed in a statement.

“The 19-year-old will now continue his development in Ligue 1 after spending the first half of the season at Nottingham Forest.

According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, Strasbourg manager Patrick Vieira had a significant influence on the decision to loan Santos to the French team.

According to the source, Chelsea rejected loan proposals from three Championship teams and two Premier League teams.

When Santos returns from his pre-Olympic tournament tour with the Brazil Under-23s in Venezuela, he will reunite with his new teammates.
