William Lockwood of the Panthers is suspended three games for hitting Fleury.

The NHL has penalised Florida Panthers player William Lockwood for three games due to goaltender interference.

The league fined Lockwood late on Saturday night after Marc-Andre Fleury of the Minnesota Wild stepped behind the goal to play a puck early in the first period of the Panthers’ 6-4 loss on Friday. According to the NHL, Lockwood made “high, forceful contact with [Fleury’s] head.”

Lockwood received a minor penalty for interfering with the goaltender. In addition, he was given two minutes for roughing after a fight with Zach Bogosian, a defenseman for Minnesota.

Lockwood was hurt in a brawl with Wild forward Brandon Duhaime just after he skated back onto the ice after the penalty, and he did not finish the game.

Midway through the second quarter, Fleury, 39, left the game due to an upper-body ailment.

In 23 games this season, Lockwood, 25, has one assist and 14 penalty minutes. In 51 career games with the Panthers and Vancouver Canucks (2020–23), he has two assists.
