Dolphins coach contemplates significant changes following defeat

Prior to the 2022 NFL season, Mike McDaniel assumed the role of head coach of the Miami Dolphins and was also the team’s primary play caller. But it appears that he might be prepared to relinquish those responsibilities given the team’s inability to reach its objectives this season following a defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.

Mike McDaniel made it plain in a news conference this week that he would be willing to relinquish play-calling responsibilities the next season if he thought it would benefit the team more than himself.

McDaniel stated, “Nothing’s off the table, ever,” according to South Florida Sun-Sentinel reporter David Furones. “I believe that this season we fell short of our expectations, so play-calling wouldn’t live outside of that.”

It’s important to remember that the Dolphins had some success this season on the offensive end, ranking fourth in the league in terms of points scored per game and second in terms of yards gained per game.

Nevertheless, it’s clear that the offence wasn’t sufficient to help the club win a playoff game or the division, so it sounds like McDaniel and the Dolphins will at least take this into consideration.
